After School Programs:
We currently have the capacity to offer lesson plans for existing after school programs. We’ve created after school activities designed for elementary school students that teach geology and paleontology with a focus on the GSENM region. Contact Neak Loucks (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like to use these lesson plans in your own program. GSEP can help provide equipment and supplies for programs local to southern Utah and northern Arizona.
Future after school activity topics are GSENM archaeology and ecology.
GSEP is collaborating with the Kane Education Foundation to deliver a 4 week (8 session) summer science camp for Kane County preschoolers (ages 4-6). This year’s camp will focus on forces of erosion, the formation of sedimentary rocks, and the exciting things that can be found inside sedimentary rocks. In the event of continued COVID-19 restrictions, we will provide take-home kits for these activities.
This year we are also coordinating with Kanab Middle School to offer a summer enrichment program that provides hands-on inquiry and a field-based experience focused on 7th grade geology topics.
